Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Pickerling Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Stewart officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Columbia.
Doug was born in Iberia Mo. on September 1, 1953 a son of Glen F. and Alma Glee(Huddleston) Ballard. On July 24, 1976 in Columbia, he married Judy Neal. Judy preceded him in death on January 29, 2007.
Mr. Ballard had worked as a building inspector for the City of Columbia and the City Of Mexico and was now retired. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Most of all, he especially loved spending time with his granddaughters who were the joy of his life.
Suvivors include on son; Jim Ballard of Columbia, one daughter; Sarah Gasperson and partner Alison Smith of Columbia; one brother; Mike Ballard and wife Sue of Richland, two granddaughters, Katie Gasperson and Finley Gasperson Smith; and his four legged companion, Oscar.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister; Glenda Albertson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Rainbow House. They may be sent in care of Pickering 403 N. Western, Mexico Mo. 65265
