The following is from Indiana World War Records: Gold Star Honor Roll, A Record of Indiana Men and Women who died in the service of the United States and the Allied Nations in the World War, 1914-1918 (ancestry.com)

"Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Blansett; born in 1894 (exact date not known), Jasper, Tenn. Employed in Kokomo, Ind. at time of enlistment in U.S. Regular Army, early in the year, 1917. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.; assigned to aviation branch of service, and sent to Kelly Field, Tex. Transferred to Wilbur Wright Field, Ohio. Later took a special course in gunnery. Died of influenza October 6, 1918, Dayton, Ohio. Buried in Jasper, Tenn."
