Betty W. Addington, 87, of West Des Moines, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Timberland Health Care at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale. Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 at Iles Funeral Homes Dunn's Chapel. A private family entombment will take place prior to services at the Resthaven Mausoleum.
Betty was born in Des Moines on September 7, 1918, the daughter of Lloyd and Francis Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Des Moines Golf and Country Club and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Drake University. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and following Drake University Athletics.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Addington; and her sister, Mary Crouch. She is survived by two sons, Scott Addington of Minneapolis and Steven (Andrea) Addington of Johnston; one daughter, Jane (Doug) Lane of West Des Moines; and four grandchildren, Brad Lane, Kim Lane, Anastasia Addington and Anya Addington. The family would like to thank Timberland at Deerfield and Hospice of Central Iowa for the special care Betty received.
Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17 at the Iles Funeral Homes Dunn's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
