Eutropie "Stuart" Axenty was born on the family homestead near MacNutt, SK on March 16th, 1903. He was baptized March 22nd, 1903 at Sfânta Treime Biserica Ortodoxă Română in MacNutt, SK; his Godparents were Artimon Ungurean and Varvara Zilinski.

At the age of 11 years old, Stuart traveled to California with his parents and two brothers, George & Edward. The family boarded a ferry in Vancouver, B.C., arriving in Seattle, WA November 8th, 1914. After making their way to Redondo Beach, CA, the family rented a small home at 618 Emerald Street. For the next ten years, Stuart would make several trips back to Canada with his father, and tend to the family's homestead in MacNutt, which he later purchased from his father for $800 in 1920.

On November 25th, 1934, Stuart married Helen Condurachi in Los Angeles. She was from Montreal, but sadly their union ended in divorce in 1938. Stuart then married a divorcée, Bernice Kehrer Hall, who had a 10 year old daughter, Shirley Hall. Again, this union would only last a few years, ending in divorce.

During WWII, Stuart served in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1946, Stuart returned to Canada and sold the Axenty Homestead to John Oliowsky for $1,600.00. While he was there, he met a young girl from Calder, Elizabeth Miller. Despite a 27 year difference in their ages, after a short courtship, they were married August 11th, 1946 in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Holy Transfiguration at Yorkton, SK. The couple remained in Canada another six weeks before Stuart would bring his new bride to California, via Montana, September 30th, 1946.
