Named for his father's brother, William Cicero Foard, great great grandfather of Rev. Daniel Thomas Ford, Jr. Father John Calvin Foard died in Civil War in 1864; mother died the same year. He had to live with a maiden aunt and bachelor uncle. He left Charlotte between 1870-1880 and settled in the Mississippi Delta.
