Otis Harlan (1865-1940) - Find a Grave Memorial

Actor. A native of Zanesville, Ohio, he was a beloved early character actor of vaudeville, films, Broadway plays, and classic animated films. The uncle of actor Kenneth Harlan, he was a performer in Irving Berlin's "Alexander's Ragtime Band" in vaudeville in 1911, and the Broadway musicals, "The Student Prince In Old Heidelberg" (1927), and "Show Boat" (1929). Harlan will be forever remembered though as the voice of the loveable character, 'Happy,' in the 1937 classic Walt Disney film, "Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs." Harlan's other work includes the films, "A Black Sheep" (1915), "The Romance Promoters" (1920), "Keeping Up With Lizzie" (1921), "The Spider And The Rose" (1923), "Fine Clothes" (1925), "Silk Stockings" (1927), "Loose Ankles" (1930), "Aloha" (1931), "That My Boy" (1932), "Open Sesame" (1933), "The Hoosier Schoolteacher" (1935), "Outlaws Of Sonora" (1938), "Mr. Boggs Steps Out" (1938), "Scandal Street" (1938), and "The Texans" (1938). Harlan continued to work up until his death from a stroke on January 21, 1940, in Martinsville, Indiana, at the age of 74.
