Charles Wingate Badeau, M.D. was born in New York City and died in Dunedin, Florida in the influenza epidemic of 1918. Charles served with the 1st Mounted Rifles of NY from 1862-1865 Company F as part of the Union during the Civil War. His brother Adam Badeau was a Brigadier General who accompanied Grant to Lee's surrender, served as Grant's military secretary, wrote Grant's memoirs and 2 other books on him and is buried in Westchester County, NY. Adam's Memorial ID is 34225291. Charles settled in Allentown, NJ in 1876 served his community as a physician and was also appointed commissioner of the board of health. He retired in 1901 and moved to Passaic, NJ where he spent his summers and Dunedin, Fl where he spent his winters.
