Regina Tiedeman, 94, died peacefully on May 8, 2006. She succumbed to complications from a recent battle with pneumonia. At the time of her death, Regina was a resident of Calvin Community. Regina's husband, retired Drake University Professor Stuart Tiedeman, preceded her in death. A graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery on Saturday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m.

Regina was born Regina Beckman, daughter of George and Emma Beckman at Fairview, Kansas on April 12, 1912. She grew up in Middleton, Wisconsin and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Wisconsin. She wed Stuart Tiedeman on June 21, 1938 and the marriage spanned sixty five years until Stuart's death. During World War II, Regina accompanied her husband to duty stations on the east coast. The couple came to Des Moines in 1946 to raise a family and contribute to the growth of Drake University. She raised two children and was active in several organizations including Drake Dames, PEO and Saint John's Lutheran Church. Regina and her husband lived at 2211 55th street in Des Moines for fifty six years. The home she made was inspired by her exquisite taste and served as the gathering place for many memorable family holidays and celebrations of friendship.

Regina's keen intellect and unfailing decency live on in her daughter, Terri Tiedeman Kline of Urbandale and son, Dr. James Tiedeman of Charlottesville, Virginia and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Drake University or Calvin Community.
