Eleanor Frances Nelson 80, of Rural Centralia, passed away Thursday April 16, 2015 after a short illness at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Eleanor was born June 4, 1934 at home, northwest of Laddonia Mo. the daughter of James and Nary Eleanor(Rowell) Babb, She lived in the Vandalia-Farber area until after her marriage on June 22, 1952 to Presley J. Nelson of Frankfoed, Mo. In 1966 the couple moved to the Centralia area, and they had five children. Debra McDowell of Ashland, Darrell Nelson and wife Sherri of Angels Camp, California, Daniel Nelson of Centralia, Darin Nelson and wife Sara of New London, and an infant daughter, Janet Rae, and new found son, Tom Wilson and wife Betty of Kansas City.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Presley, infant daughter, Janet Rae, her mother and father, and two brothers, Marvin and Glynn Babb.

Eleanor is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a loving sister, Shirley Steinman and husband Ben of Mexico.

Mrs. Nelson was retired from an entensive career as a mother, grandmother, wife and homemaker, as well as a 14 year career of Nurse's Assistant and patient registration duties at Audrain Medical Center.

She enjoyed day trips with Presley, reading , watching, and feeding her hummingbirds, watching Wheel of Fortune, soap operas and "Survivor" listening to Katy Perry's "Roar" talking and keeping up with friends with her sister, Eleanor was a follower of Jesus Christ and now rests in his peaceful comfort and mercy.

Graveside services will be held at 11a.m. Monday at the Vandalia Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Stott officiating. Visitation is Sunday from 1'30-3;00p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home
