Cheryl Louise Allen, 46, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away on July 2, 2014. She was born in Long Beach, CA on April 28, 1968, to Darrell and Lynda Allen, and spent most of her childhood with her parents and siblings in San Diego, CA, where her father was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Cheryl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December 1990. She proudly served her country in California, Oklahoma, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. The highlight of her military career was being selected to serve with the USAF Thunderbirds at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, from 2001 to 2007. Cheri loved sports and played women’s softball throughout high school and college. She was also an avid bowler and considered joining the USAF Bowling Team after she bowled two perfect 300 games. Cheri loved her family, friends, and pets unconditionally. Central to her life were her sister, her nephew, and her cat, Chunky. Not once did Cheryl ever ask, “Why me?” when cancer appeared in 1991, again in 2001, 2008, and finally in 2013. She gave of herself wholeheartedly and completely. Cheri had received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and wanted to share His blessings with others.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Lynda Northover Allen, in 1981; and her father, Darrell Gene Allen, in 1997. Survivors include her sister, Teresa Allen, and nephew, Darrell Allen Wortham, both of Wenatchee; her brother, Daniel Allen of Denver, CO; her adopted brothers, Rick Allen of Wenatchee, and Mark Allen of East Wenatchee; and her stepmother, Terrie Allen Cranwell of Wenatchee. She is also survived by many aunts and cousins in both Washington and California.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Wenatchee City Cemetery, 1804 N. Western Avenue, with full Military Honors. Please join us following the service for lunch and a Celebration of Cheri’s Life at the Wenatchee Free Methodist Church, 1601 Fifth Street. To honor Cheri, please wear your brightest colors (no black) and help us in celebrating the immense joy she brought into our lives and to all who knew her.
