at his home. Memorial services will be
2:30 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Community Christian Church; private interment in
Mount Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community
Christian Church.
Rev. Bailes was born December 20, 1905, in Convoy, OH, and had lived in this
area since 1952, coming from Albuquerque, NM. He was a graduate of Eugene Bible
College, Eugene, OR. He pastored churches in Julesburg, CO, and Ft.
Morgan, CO, as well as Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque and Merriam
Christian Church, Merriam, KS. He was an Associate Pastor at Community Christian
Church, Kansas City, MO. He was an Army chaplain in Europe during World War II.
He was on the first Library Board in Johnson County, KS.
Rev. Bailes was preceded in death by his son, Kendall E. Bailes, in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Bailes , of the home; daughter, Elaine
Kieffer, of the home; brother, Ed Bailes , Medford, OR; sisters, Eva Chase,
Anderson, CA, Clara Martin, Van Nuys, CA, and Violet Hamer, Vancouver, WA;
grandchildren, Julia Vivian Gass and her husband, James, Prairie Village, KS,
and Jonathan Kieffer and his spouse, Jacque - line Lewis, Kansas City, MO; and a
