Lou "Emma" Waggoner Bogart was the daughter of James Monroe Bogart 1834 – 1899 and Elizabeth "Betty" Helena Terry 1831 – 1877. Emma had the following known siblings: William "Dick" Russell Bogart 1864 – 1931. Dick married 1st Mary "Mollie" Polly Graham 1865 – 1906, and 2nd Fonnie Hull 1883 – 1963; James "Anna" Bogart 1867 – 1901. Anna married William Walton Head 1856 – 1939; James B Bogart 1867 – 1901. James married Guenthia Bogart; George Monroe Bogart 1868 – 1953. George married Ora Pauline Wooten 1869 – 1953; Albert Ross Bogart 1872 – 1953. Albert married Dona "Ethel" Helms 1888 – 1990 and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Bogart 1874 – 1941. Mollie married Frederick "Fred" Gustavia Bays 1871 – 1950.

In the 1870 census Emma was 8 years old and living with her parents in rural Ladonia, Fannin Co., Texas where her father,James Monroe Bogart, was farming. He had an estate of $5000.00 and $1000.00 in unsecured property.

Texas, Select County Marriage Index, 1837-1977 confirms that Emma Bogard became the bride of Alexander Shadden in Fannin co., Texas on 12 Mar 1876. FHL Film Number: 1293828. From this marriage was born 2 known children: Mary Francis "Molly" Shadden 1877 – 1950. Molly married WALTER Fred Mashore 1872 – 1912 and John Green King 1850 – 1921 and Lou Hamer Shadden 1880 – 1959.

One day in 1881 during Emma's 18th year of life became a very sad day for Alexander "Elec" Shadden and his two babies. His dear Emma had passed away. She exhaled her last breath and her spirit returned to God her maker. A grave site was selected in the Newport Cemetery, Lone Grove, Carter County.
