Judson "Judd" Abbey, 77, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born April 4, 1929 in Girard, a son of the late Victor J. and Grace Hunter Abbey. Judd attended the Rice Avenue Union High School, and later enlisted in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Morris Gilmore Dairy Farm, the Girard and Lake City post offices, Parker White Inc., and the General McLane School District as a maintenance man. He lived for a time in Banning Calif., and returned to Girard where he has resided since. He was a member of the Girard Alliance Church, the Girard American Legion Post #494, and was Superintendent of the Girard Cemetery for 15 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua Stanton and Tracy Abbey; and also by a sister, Mary Jane Watkins. He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Ryan Abbey, whom he married July 4, 1973 in Edinboro; also by three daughters, Sona Lou Lachina and her husband, Jeff, of Cleveland, Tammy Abbey of Lake City, and Terry Briggs and her husband, David, of Girard; a son, Judson G. "Rocky" Abbey, of Lake City; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
