Richard married Lydia Jones a widow with five children in Laurens, Laurens, South Carolina, USA in 1775.
In 1821 with a wagon train led by his stepson John Jones he arrived in Fayette County, Alabama with his family.

Including Lydia Fowler (b. ca 1776), Joshua Fowler ( b. ca 1784),Charity Fowler (b ca 1787) and Elizabeth Fowler (b. ca 1797) The family resided on Little Horse Creek,a branch of the Reedy River, on border between Greenville and Laurens County. It shows Lydia married John Barnes of Davidson Co. TN. They later settled in Bibb CO County Alabama. The others also moved to Alabama.
