Lake Allen Amtower, 88, of New Creek, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 27, 1926 at Laureldale, WV, he was a son of the late George T. and Ida Virginia (Bosley) Amtower. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Hurshel, Lantz and Tommy Amtower and seven sisters, Flora Kessel, Delphia Condron, Lill Crew, Ora Fint, Etheleen Silvestri, Ilene Amtower and Margie Shanks.

Mr. Amtower was retired from the Grant County Board of Education as a custodian. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was very proud of his military service. He was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Bismarck, WV, Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW and Boyce-Houser Post # 41, American Legion, both of Keyser.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 39 years, Naomi J. (Moreland) Fridley Amtower; four sons, Larry Amtower of Mount Storm, WV, Galen Amtower and wife Sherri of Keyser and Allen Fridley and wife Donna and Gary Fridley and wife Elaine, all of Mount Storm; two daughters, Geraldine Amtower of Keyser and Kathy Grubb and husband Richard of Mount Storm; two sisters, Yvonne Warner of Akron, OH and Nevada Amtower of New Creek; seven grandchildren, Dominic Amtower, Carla Arnold, Stacy Baker, Kimberly Fridley, Michael Fridley, Chad Fridley and Jeff Grubb and 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Austin, Alexis, Danielle, Dustin, Addisyn, Wyatt, Brooklyn and Samantha.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Walker and Rev. Donna Leatherman officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens. Graveside military honors will be accorded.
