Catherine was born September 2, 1945 in Sheboygan to the late Alois Mertzig and Leah Mae Jones-Ward. She attended local schools. On July 5, 1960 she married Arch Mullens. On April 14, 1973, she married Steven Batt in Sheboygan. She was employed by Thomas Industries until the time of her illness.
Catherine attended the First Assembly of God in Sheboygan.
In addition to her husband Steven, she is survived by her children; Leann (Robert C.) Gauger of Cedar Grove, Thomas E. (Mary A.) Mullens of Sheboygan, Ronald D. (Yvonne M.) Mullens of Cedar Grove, Joann ( James O.) Miller of Kiel, Andrea C. Batt, and Andrew S. Batt of Sheboygan. She is further survived by 22 grandchildren, five brothers, Michael (Wandra) Wright, Terry (Cindy) Mertzig, Tanny (Laura) Mertzig, Ricky Mertzig, Joe (Amy) Ward, three sisters Judy Mitchell, Shirley Ward, and Darlene (Angelo) Montour. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
