Mrs. Acklen, 94, was born to Jesse and Allie Seelbach in Mount Enterprise, Texas, on November 15, 1928.

During World War II Hazel worked in Washington D.C. as a “Government Girl” for the War Shipping Administration in the Maritime Service Division.

After her time in Washington D.C. she moved to Texas City, went to work for Community Public Service Company for 20 years and in 1946 married a co-worker, J.E. “Shorty” Acklen. They resided in Texas City until 1975 when they moved to League City to enjoy their retirement years. Hazel had a love for cooking, baking, helping others and constantly donated to multiple charities. She had a sincere love for family and always encouraged education and family values to anyone close to her.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband J.E. “Shorty” Acklen, sister Elizabeth “Polly” Seelbach and brothers Roy A. Seelbach and William “Bill” Seelbach.

Hazel is survived by her sister Helen M. Parker, nephews Curtis Seelbach and wife Joan, Mark Seelbach and wife Brenda and many other loving family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Curtis Seelbach, Jesse Seelbach, Steve Jones, Michael Moorhead, David Acklen and Jeff Acklen.
