Donald Uvon “Preacher” Morgan, 82 of Gainesville, Texas passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Pecan Tree Nursing Center in Gainesville. He was born on July 17, 1932 in Bethel Community, Marshall County, Oklahoma to the late James Roy Morgan and Mattie Pearl Altum Morgan. He married Lila Minyard on September 5, 1951 and together they had one son Dave Allen Morgan born on January 7, 1953. In 1953 he began his police career by joining the Gainesville Police Department where worked for 6 years. From there he moved and went to work for the Midland, Texas Police Department having earned the rank of Sergeant and was one of the two arresting officers involved in one of the most high profiled murder cases in Midland involving Mrs. Fred Turner one of the wealthiest families in the state of Texas. After moving from Midland he went to work for the Farmers Branch Police Department and then onto the Carrollton Police Department. In 1971 he married 2nd wife Lois Anita Lloyd. He retired in 1990.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his only son; Dave Allen Morgan, brothers; Dewey, Orvel, Ernest Clyde, Dick, Henry, and James Morgan, and 1 sister; Thelma Morgan Gentry.
