Lisa Marie Hulsing, 48, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines, of which she was a member. Burial will take place at Waukee Cemetery.

Lisa was born August 22, 1966 in Estherville, IA to Dale and Doris Wycoff. She graduated from Estherville High School, attended the University of Northern Iowa and then graduated from Drake University School of Pharmacy. Lisa had lived in the West Des Moines area since 1992. She was past president of the Polk County Pharmacy Association. During her career, she enjoyed mentoring college students who were considering pharmacy school. Lisa's customers were very important to her, she always took time to get to know them and explain their medications to them. She met with families at Blank Children's Hospital Pediatric Unit. Lisa volunteered her time with her children's activities at school and sporting events and enjoyed the family vacations at Lake Okoboji. Her first love was being a wife and mother. Lisa also loved her three cats and tolerated her dog.

Lisa started and was very active in cancer foundations. In 2007, Lisa and a group of parents co-founded Club Hope (Helping Other Parents Endure) through the Children's Cancer Connection. They provide support services for families battling childhood cancer. In 2008, she brought the CureSearch Walk to Des Moines and the event raised approximately $500K for childhood cancer research. In 2009, Lisa was one of the founding members of BEATCANCERTODAY.ORG, which provides cancer awareness. In 2010, she was named Outstanding Woman You Should Know by Lite 104.1.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Steve Hulsing of West Des Moines; three children, Regan Hulsing and twins, Nick and Gabrielle Hulsing all of West Des Moines; four siblings, Daniel (Cailin) Wycoff of Milford, IA, Deborah Nurre of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara (Robert) Carter and Thomas (Beth) Wycoff both of Estherville, IA; uncle, John Opelt of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Clifford and Iva Wycoff and Edward and Marie Opelt.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to BEATCANCERTODAY.ORG or to the family.
