Despite losing a courageously fought battle with cancer without bitterness or complaining, Parks Chaney won the victory when he went to join the Lord and Savior in Heaven October 4, 2012. Funeral services under the direction of Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home, Honey Grove, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 5, 2012 at Windom Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM prior to the service. Officiates will be Pastor Dave Cash and Mike Haney. Named as Pallbearers are Johnnie White, Albert White, Robert Gibbs, Ron Kyle, Ray Owen and Bill Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Burk, Marvin Loschke, Dale Pickett, Dub Thomas and Neal Wray.

William Parks Chaney was born in Flag Springs, TX on October 17, 1931 to Jack and Pauline (Graves) Chaney. He graduated from Windom High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Parks was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, time spent with his family, fishing and time spent with his many friends. He was a Deacon at the Windom Baptist Church and served his church, his God and his church family for over 45 years. Parks was retired from Campbell Soup Co. of Paris, TX. He was a charter member of the Windom Lions Club and supported many causes: Relay For Life, Mother's March of Dimes, Bonham Special Olympics, Christian Children's Fund, Feed The Children and the Windom SNAP Center. Parks was a man who was respected and loved by friends, family and community.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Oliver Chaney of the home,; daughter Terri Chaney Caffee and husband Benny of Windom; daughter Jean Anne Chaney Hensley and husband Glen of Windom; Grandchildren Darcy and Jason Stanley of Windom, Kelly and Robert Covington of Allens Point, Nicki and Davey Cooper of Boyd and Robert Hall of Windom. Great grandchildren are Braxton Stanley and Kaleb and Kason Covington.

He will be missed for his enjoyment of humor, willingness to lend a helping hand, his Godly advice and loyal loving nature.

Parks requested any memorials be made to: Windom Cemetery or Windom School Memorial Fund or Windom Park Fund or the Windom SNAP Center.
