Marlin Reese, 76, son of Anna Wood and Simeon Everett Reese, was born May 19, 1930, on a farm near Topaz. He died May 26, 2006, on the same farm.
He attended Coble School and later the Cabool Schools.
He married Virginia Lee Welton Feb. 14, 1948. They were married 58 years and raised six children.
As a young man, he farmed and worked for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service at Ava. He often worked at night helping neighbors repair farm equipment and other tasks.
He started Reese Lumber Co. in 1965. His company sawed lumber and made pallets. He also owned a trucking business as a part of the pallet operation. He sold the pallet company in the fall of 1984 and retired to farm.
He was a member of Fieldstone Church of Christ.
Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Teddy Lane and Danny Lee Reese; brother, Floyd Arthur Reese; and sister, Ina Mae Reese.
Surviving are his wife of the home; sons, Marlin Keith Reese, Ronald Max Reese and Dwight Reese; daughter, Susan Annette Mason; sister, Lois Ilene Janvier; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were May 30 at the Fieldstone Church of Christ with Ron Alexander and Ron Wood officiating. Burial was in the Penner Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
