Everett moved to Victoria shortly before his marriage to Susan Emma Townsend in 1897. He was a carpenter and later became a construction contractor.

Everett & Susan had 3 children, Allett Franklin "Frank", Theodore Norton and Thelma Minnie Harriett.

Everett worked in various west coast towns including Vancouver BC, Seattle, Portland & San Francisco. In 1910 the family was living in Los Angeles. They subsequently returned to Victoria and settled in a house at 137 Clarence Street near Beacon Hill Park.

On 30 July 1915, Everett enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces and several months later his sons Norton and Frank also enlisted. Everett suffered from gastritis and was discharged for medical reasons in December 1916. Norton served overseas until the end of the war and arrived in Halifax on 21 May 1918. Norton married Emma Wenmouth in 1926. Frank met his wife Annie Cromien while stationed in Belfast. They later settled in Victoria. Thelma married Edward Creech in 1926.

Everett was working as a hotel clerk at the Fairfield Hotel on Douglas Street when he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. He died at St Joseph’s Hospital in Victoria on 3 July 1948.
