E.C. Herrin passed away April 9, 2015 following an illness. He was a resident of Irondale, Alabama. Mr. Herrin was a graduate of Howard College (now Samford University) and the Birmingham School of Law. He was a practicing Attorney for 50 years. Prior to beginning his Law Practice, he worked for US Steel for 11 years. He also served as a Municipal Judge for 45 years, primarily in the City of Helena, Alabama. He was a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, where he served on many committees, the Alabama Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was active in the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi, Alpha Kappa Psi and Sigma Delta Kappa fraternities. He also served as a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Irondale United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Mr. Herrin served in the US Navy aboard the USS Boxer CV21, an aircraft carrier. Mr. Herrin was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott Clayton Herrin and Pyretta Walker Herrin, special Aunt and Uncle Ludie Walker Siddons and George "Pop" Siddons, and grandson Philip Thomas Herrin.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 13, at 1:00 pm, at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
