Gloria J. Tarter, 85 formerly of Scammon, KS died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday April 8, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born February 25, 1930 in Richards, MO the daughter of Chester A. and Mary E. (Lawson) Groshong.

She was a 1947 graduate of Columbus High School. She and her family lived in the Scammon area most of her life.

Gloria married Ralph Tarter on May 31, 1947 in Columbus, KS; he preceded her in death on July 6, 1999.

She was a homemaker. Church membership was held in the Scammon Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include 2 sons-Jim Tarter and wife Jan of Pittsburg, Paul Tarter and wife Sandy of Weir; 3 daughters Barbara Coy and husband Dale of Lake Dallas, TX, Kathy Potts and husband Doug of Assaria, KS, Pauline Keal of Chanute, KS; 10 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters- Rosena Welch, Betty Ostrosky and a brother Morse Groshong.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday April 12, 2015 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Reverend K.O. Noonoo officiating. Burial will follow in the Hosey Hill Cemetery.
