Andrew (baptized Andreas) was born at Valen in Fjelberg parish, now Kvinnherad kommune, Hordaland, Norway. His parents, Ole Endresen (1836-1889) and Anna Johannesdtr (1841-1926), were cottagers at Valen. Andreas emigrated to the United States of America in 1897.
