Ocala - Thomas James Quinn, of Ocala, Florida, age 89 years, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at his home.
He was born on September 13, 1925 in Litchfield, Illinois, son to the late Thomas Joseph and Mary Edith (Ford) Quinn. He grew up in Illinois, joined the U.S. Army and served from 1943 to 1946. Throughout his education he received his bachelors degree in English from the University of Illinois and than 2 Masters Degrees; the first being a Masters in English from Washington State College and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Michigan. He was a university professor of English and also a librarian. He moved to Ocala in 1998 from Birmingham, MI. Thomas loved gardening and listening to all types of music. He was the tenth of eleven siblings to pass away.
Surviving Thomas is his sister Eugenia Magalotti of Ocala and many nieces and nephews including Charles Allen Martin of Northville, MI whom he raised as his own son.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00PM in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala, FL 34481. The visitation will follow from 1:30PM to 3:00PM. Burial will be on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00AM at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala, FL. Condolences may be expressed towww.hiers-baxley.com
