Margaret Gertrude Rising was born Aug. 14, 1876 at Ellsworth, Wis., the daughter of Asenath and John Brackin, and passed away suddenly at her home in Alexandria Saturday, Aug. 30, at the age of 76 tears and 16 days.
She came with her parents to Forada, Minn., in 1880, where they resided for 16 years and then moved to Fairmont, N.D.
On Nov. 21, 1906, she was united in marriage to Ernest Rising. Mr. and Mrs. Rising farmed farmed at Fairmont until 1921. They made their home for a few years at Davenport, Iowa, and Barnsville, Minn., before coming to Alexandria in 1927. Mr. Rising passed away July 15, 1950.
Surviving are one daughter, (Hazel) Mrs. Harold Drum of Garfield, and one son, Harold, of Alexandria in addition to seven grandchildren and four brothers, Ben Brackin of Alexandria, Frank Brackin of Hankinson, N. D., Claude Brackin of Bemidji, and Ralph Brackin of Wahpeton, N.D., and one sister, Myrtle Trapp, of Fargo, North Dakota. Her husband and one brother, John, have preceded her in death.
