Obituary:

Elizabeth Mae Bard, 91, of R.D. 2, Box 8, Mount Union, died Wednesday, March 7, 1979 at the home of her grandson with whom she had been residing. Born Aug 20, 1887 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of John P. and Annie M. (Fornoff) Shields. She married Roy A. Bard Oct. 20, 1909 in Harrisburg. He preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1979. She is survived by her grandson Sheldon Bard of Mount Union R.D. 2, by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sheldon L. (Cathryn) Bard. Her son, Sheldon L., preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1975. Three grandchildren also survive. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Allenport and taught Sunday School there for 50 years. She attended the Mount Union schools and Juniata college and taught in the Shirley Township schools for a number of years. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 280, Mount Union. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Thomas A. Mauer officiating. Interment will be made in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Germany Valley. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services. A memorial service by the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 280, Mount Union, will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted but memorial contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels of Mount Union.
