Leon Hufferd passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at 9:59 a.m. in Bartlesville, OK.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville with Pastor Sam McCullough officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #105 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
Leon was born May 7, 1927 in Bartlesville to Frank and Hazel (Brookshire) Hufferd. Leon proudly served his country as Staff Sergeant with the 408th Army Airborne Division from September 1944 to March 1946 during WWII. Leon worked at Zinc Corporation of America from 1948 to June 1989 and also owned and operated Leon's Welding Service for many years. Leon enjoyed repairing things and could fix almost anything that was broken! He helped build the Goff Play Tower at Sooner Park. He was good to everyone and adopted a lifestyle of helping the less fortunate. He was of the Baptist faith.
Leon is survived by his wife, Darla of the family home. Six daughters: Terri Clopp of Rogers, AR, Lynn Scott of Bartlesville, Jan Standfield of Sapulpa, Kathy Collins of Bartlesville, Victoria Conwell of Grove, Karen Hufferd of Bartlesville, one son, Mark Hufferd of Bartlesville and step-daughter, Janie King of Skiatook. He was blessed with ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews including special niece, Anita Kay Mathis of Bartlesville.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gary Hufferd in September 1970, who was always on his mind; Gary's daughter, Reneisha in 2007, three sisters: Leota, Lenora, Leona Belle and brother, LaVaughn "Vonnie" Hu.
