Alexander "Alex" Rozgonyi, 90, of Duquesne, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Sycamore Estate, Duquesne. Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Duquesne, he was a son of the late Janos (John) and Mary (Sontra) Rozgonyi. He was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. A lifelong resident of Duquesne, Alex spent his entire life working at U.S. Steel's Duquesne Works. In retirement, Alex spent his summers growing vegetables in his beloved backyard and garden and his winters cheering for the Steelers and Penguins. His family knew never to call him near 7 p.m., because that was when the daily number was announced. Alex spent all but the last month of his life living in his favorite place on earth, the modest home in which he and Frances raised their four sons. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Sullivan) Rozgonyi; father of Michael (Anne) Rozgonyi, of Duquesne, John (Mary Pat) Rozgonyi, of Munhall, Timothy (Anne) Rozgonyi, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the late Francis T. "Fran" (surviving spouse, Sandy, of Duquesne) Rozgonyi; grandfather of Nedene Rozgonyi-Gullen, Nathan Rozgonyi, Thomas and Gregory Rozgonyi, Katie and Kelly Rozgonyi and the late Christina Rozgonyi; great-grandfather of 11; and brother of Mary Rusnak, of Kissimmee, Fla., and the late John "Gumps" Rozgonyi, Joseph, Andy, Steve, Louis and Betty Rozgonyi. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, funeral director. Blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin, with military honors.
