Mrs. Cornelius Buckley.
Ellen Honora Buckley, wife
of Postmaster Cornelius Buckley, died
Saturday of acute Bright's disease at
the Buckley home on Glover street,
after a very brief serious illness.
While Mrs. Buckley had not been in
her usual health for some months, her
condition had not been thought
unusually serious, and her sudden going
was a great shock to the community.
Mrs. Buckley was Ellen Durkin,
and was born in Albany June 10,
1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Martin Durkin. She married Mr.
Buckley in East Albany June 10, 1912,
coming to Barton and has since lived
here, acting as clerk in the post
office much of the time for the past
eight years. Here she acquired a
wide acquaintance and every
acquaintance was a friend.
Funeral services were held from St.
Paul's church Tuesday at 11 o'clock,
requiem high mass being sung by the
choir, Rev. Fr. Hagan acting as
celebrant, assisted by Rev. Frs.
Pontbriand of Lyndonville and Sevigny
of Barton. There was a large attend
ance. The body was taken to
Lyndonville for burial.
There was a very large floral
tribute, the business places of the
town making a large offering.
Mrs. Buckley leaves, besides her
husband, her father, Martin Durkin
who lived in the Buckley home, as did
also a sister, Mrs. Jerry Buckley.
Another sister is Mrs. Thomas
Mullaney, of Albany. Three brothers
also survive, James Durkin, of
Boston; John Durkin, of Wrentham, Mass,
and Thomas, of South Albany.
CARD Through the columns of
the Monitor we wish to extend our
heartfelt thanks to our friends and
neighbors, in this our hour of sorrow
for the many messages of sympathy,
for the beautiful floral offerings, and
other acts of thoughtful kindness
which did so much to aid, assist and
comfort us in our bereavement. May
God in his infinite goodness shower
upon you all, his choicest blessings.

Martin Durkin,
