Ora G. Davis Sr., 69, who had resided on R.R.5, Greensburg the past seven years, died Sunday at 2 a.m. in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, having been in failing health the past few months.
He had spent his life as a carpenter.
Mr. Davis was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Switzerland County, the son of James F. and Adelaide Margaret Holcraft Davis. He was married to Mae L. Ricketts Feb. 19, 1938 in Switzerland County and she survives, with a son, John A. Davis, Westport, and four daughters: Mrs. Bernard A. (Diane Sue) Schoettmer, R.R.5, Greensburg, Margaret Miller, Kentucky, Barbara Wingham, Hope and Mrs. Hubert (Nancy) Miller, Greensburg; two brothers, Donald Davis, Poseyville and Robert Davis, Lawrenceburg and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Ora G. Davis Jr. and Albert C. Davis; two brothers, James and Fred Davis, a sister, who died at an early age, and five grandchildren.
The services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Browning officiating and with burial in the Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
