Friends here have learned that Chalmer Nash Patterson, 69, one time Albany college instructor, died Nov 20 at Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was residing after retiring from his associate professorship in the University of Tulsa department of physics.
Professor Patterson was a native of Stark County, IL, but attended Oregon public schools and was graduated from the University of Oregon with both BA and MA degrees. He later did graduate work at the University of Iowa an Marquette.
It was while teaching at Albany college that Professor Patterson married Mary Irvine, then an assistant in the Albany college department of music. They were married here in June 1920.
From Albany Professor Patterson went to Sterling College, Sterling, KS; thence to Hasting College, NE, the Milwaukie School of Engineering and then Bradley University after having served in an administrative capacity with the U.S. Air Force at Biloxi, MS, during WWII. He moved to Tulsa in 1957.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, Masonic lodge, American Physical Society and Pi Gamma Mu. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Evangeline Cotten, Grand Prairie, TX; a son, Braxton Patterson, Milwaukee; five brothers and a sister, Mrs Zoe Stephens of Eugene, Oregon.
The funeral was held at Tulsa Monday of last week.
