PETER ALEXANDER was born in 1776, and was of Scotch-Irish descent. He married Jane Mitchell, who afterward became the mother of six sons and six daughters; they removed to Belmont County from Maryland, and to Worthington Township in 1826; he owned three quarter-sections of land north and east of Newville, where he and wife spent the rest of their lives, and finally were buried; Mr. Alexander was 86 and his wife 77 when they died, having lived together sixty-two years.
