Thief River Falls, MN, 96, died Monday March 2, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Norwood Young America, MN surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Vicki Saude Worthington officiating. Burial will be at Our Saviors Cemetery, Hamre Twp., Beltrami County, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Thea Olivia Lillevold was born May 27, 1918 in Lee Township, Beltrami County, MN, the daughter of T. J. and Thone (Bratteli) Lillevold. She was baptized and confirmed at Carmel Lutheran Church. Thea attended School District #107 (Lee Township School) and graduated in 1934 from High School in Thief River Falls, MN. She graduated from Teacher’s Training in 1935 at Thief River Falls.

On June 22, 1941, Thea was united in marriage to Manley C. Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The couple made their home near Grygla, MN, where Manley farmed with his brother Clifford in Hamre Township, and where the couple raised their family.

Thea attended summer schools and took 3 years of college work after her children were raised. In 1972, she graduated from Bemidji State, Bemidji, MN and received her Bachelor of Science degree. She taught in Gatzke, MN and Thief River Falls, MN for 18 years, retiring in 1989, after which, she subbed for 2 years. Thea then operated the Food Shelf for 10 years in Grygla, MN.

She organized the first Sunday School class at Our Savior’s and taught Sunday School for many years. She also served as Superintendent in Sunday School. She was an organist at Our Saviors as well.

Thea is survived by one son: Roger (Marion) Anderson, Edina MN; five daughters: Janice Anderson, Bloomington, MN, Mary (Al) Wichser, Los Angeles, CA, Elaine Barclay, Norwood-Young America, MN, Glenda (Gary) Gobelman, Sparks, NV and Kari Anderson, Eden Prairie; eight grandchildren: Terry (Michelle) Barclay, Deanna (Sanjay) Pathak, Christopher and Eric Benjamin, and Cynthia (Mike) Sauter, Sarah and Patrick (Jenna) Anderson, Savannah Gobelman; five great grandchildren: Faith, Mabel, and Theodore Sauter and Rohan and Adelaide Pathak; and two special nieces: Beverly Johnson and Genelle (Morken) Black.

Preceded in death by her husband, Manley, son Glenn, parents, and sisters Clara, Caroline and Margaret and brothers Torrance, Johnny and Arnie.
