Boyd Wayne Jones, 70, of Firth passed away March 31, 2015 at his home.

He was born May 10, 1944 in Driggs, Idaho to Elmer L. and Eva Jemmett Jones. He grew up in Victor, ID until late 1956. The family moved to Firth, ID, where he attended the Firth schools.

He married Chris Sutton and had one daughter, Tammy. Boyd worked at the Fred and Wayne's Tire store in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After their divorce he worked with his brother-in-law Art Rogers in California.

He was drafted into the US Army in September of 1968. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington for basic training. He was assigned to the 2nd infantry Division in Korea as a light weapons infantry man with the 2nd Battalion of the 72nd armor. He advanced in rank to Sergeant and was promoted to Army Specialist 4. Boyd was honorably discharged in September of 1970.

After returning home, he worked at Fred & Wayne Tire store again. In 1972 he went to work overseas in the Marshal Islands with his brother, Blaine, and brother-in-law, Leonard Taylor, until returning in 1975.

Blaine and Boyd purchased a tire store in Shelley, ID and worked with brothers Ted and Randy. Boyd married Janelle Staples and had a daughter, Joyce, born in 1980. He also had a step-daughter, Jenny. Janelle and Boyd were later divorced. After selling the business in 1981, Boyd worked various jobs: Monroc, Cox farms in Raft River, and in 1984 he worked with his brothers again, building a fence for the Central Arizona Project for Alva Harris Construction, and later the brothers worked in California and Kansas, sandblasting and painting city water tanks. Boyd did a lot of mechanic work in Firth.

He is survived by his brothers Melvin (Ellen) Jones, of Shelley, ID, Jewel (Pat) Jones, of Etna, WY, Blaine (Claudia) Jones, of Shelley, ID, and Randy (Diane) Jones, of Boise, ID. His daughters: Joyce Jones Manson, Tammy High, and Jenny Staples.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Joyce, Brent, Jerry, Gordon & Ted Jones, Faye Taylor, and Connie Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery with military rites by the David B. Bleak Post 93 of Shelley assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
