Bobby Dee Fleming, 81, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2015. A native Floridian, Bob was born February 23, 1934 to Cephas "Seaf" and Jessie (Hay) Fleming in Winter Garden, Florida. He had one older brother, Dwight. Bob graduated from Lakeview High School in 1952 and from the University of Florida in 1959 (with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering) in 1959.

Mr. Fleming was a retired federal employee for nearly forty years. He'd worked (as a NASA engineer) at the Kennedy Space Center since October 1965, where he participated in the Apollo, ASTP, Skylab, and Shuttle programs. He considered his most significant contribution, to the space effort, to be his involvement in developing, implementing, and managing the various Space Shuttle contingency landing sites around the world. As part of the KSC launch team he served as Ground Operations Manager (GOM) for 36 missions at these sites. As office chief he became known as the “GOMfather”.

Some of his many interests were researching family genealogy, Civil War and WW2 history, Presidential trivia, anything related to the Florida Gators, and traveling. Mr. Fleming had been to 48 states and over 20 countries. He also loved spending time with his former Winter Garden classmates. He will be remembered by his family for his story telling, Frisbee throwing, cookie eating, and baby whispering. Bob treasured the time he spent with his four children and eleven grandchildren and considered them his true blessings.

Mr. Fleming was survived by his lovely Texas bride (of 50 years) Delores; his son, Mark (wife Alyx and their children Elliott, Oliver, Warner, and Solomon); his daughter, Deborah (Fleming) Brady (husband Chris and their children Andrew, Erin, and Kyle); his newly-wed daughter, Jennifer (Fleming) Richardson (and her husband Brian); and his son, David (wife Amy and their children Rebekah, Benjamin, William, and Caleb).

A Memorial Service was held Friday, April 10, 2015, at First Christian Church of 2880 Jay Jay Road, Titusville, FL 32796.
