William B. Bond's U. S. Army records state that he fought in the Spaniah American War and later attained the rank of Master Sargent. He was Retired on September 15 1920, from the Quartermaster Corp.
He went on to civilian life to work for and become the Head Administrator for Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery located in Louis County, Missouri, just on the banks of the Mississippi River. The cemetery was established after the American Civil War in an attempt to put together a formal network of military cemeteries. While at work he slipped and fell under the wheels of one of their works trucks and his death occurred on 11 May 1933. His remains were then sent to the San Antonio National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, for burial on 19 May 1933.
