SEABOARD - Mrs. Helen Harris Irvin, 83, of Seaboard, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Hampton-Woods Nursing Home in Jackson.

Mrs. Irvin was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Northampton County, the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Harris and Mary Weeks Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Irvin; and her son, Alton H. "Butch" Irvin. She was a member of Seaboard United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Irvin Jones of Chinquapin and Claire Irvin Hall of Seaboard; her sister, Odell Edwards of Virginia Beach, Va.; her half-sisters, Joyce Ericson of Houston, and Madge Thorpe of Lake City, Fla.; her half-brothers, Joseph Harris of Gastonia, the Rev. Charles Harris of Winton and Thad Harris of Littleton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Seaboard Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Harris officiating.

Massey Funeral Home in Jackson is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, Jan. 17, and other times at the home in Seaboard.
