COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 08/29/2012
CAMPBELL - Junius C. "Jay," 81, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on August 28, 2012. A printer for 38 years at the Courier-Journal and Louisville Times, he was a proud member and officer of the Typographical Union. Jay graduated from Male High School and also was a veteran of the Korean War. In his post-retirement years, he was an active volunteer with the Jeffersontown Senior Center, the Golden Key Club and the Lions Club. A lifelong Catholic, Jay was devoted to his faith and was a leader in his church. Jay reveled in the love of his friends and family. He was the beloved husband of Betty Ann (Hayes) Campbell, with whom he shared 60 years of happiness, loving father of Ron Campbell (Margaret) of New Albany, IN, Carrie Marcell, Janet Whiteside (Bruce), Len Campbell (Kathy), Ellen Wright (Jerry), Julie Kilkelly (Bob), all of Louisville, and Linda Tipton (Sean), of Takoma Park MD; doting grandfather of Sarah Warren (John), Michael and Chris Marcell, Kaitlyn and Zachary Whiteside, Frank Campbell (Tracy) and Nickie Campbell, Laura Breedlove (Bob), Emily and Matthew Wright, Meagan and Patrick Kilkelly, and Grant & Carter Tipton; great-grandfather of Mason Campbell, Grace Breedlove, and a great-grandbaby due any day. He is also survived by siblings Rosemary Bryan, Betty Kloufetos, Donna St. Clair, and Mike, John & Bruce Campbell. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Hosparus of Louisville.
