HAMPDEN - Kay Spang, age 77, passed away quietly after an extended illness on March 29, 2015. She was born on November 10, 1937 in New Castle, Indiana to Carl and Audrey Givens Hinshaw.

A graduate of Indiana University, she attended the New York School of Social Work where she met and married her husband of 55 years.

She is survived by her husband, David, and her children: Rebecca Spang and her husband, David Polly; Jennifer Spang and her partner, Stephen Rinker; Andrew Spang and his wife, Laura Baker; Abigail Spang; Tamara Kendall; and Kerri Sands and her partner, Ed Muennich; her 5 grandchildren to whom she was deeply devoted: Sayer Tamiso, Lee Tamiso, Forrest Spang, Benjamin Spang, and Sophie Spang. She is also survived by her brothers: Keith Hinshaw and his wife, Elsie; and Delbert Hinshaw and his wife, Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay has donated her remains to the New England School of Medicine.
