Mr. Ashby was retired from Fairfield Mfg, and had worked at Eisner and Kroger grocery stores. He served during World War II as a Navy Seaman 2nd class from 1942-1944, at the U.S. Navy Training Station, Great Lakes, IL. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church, the Navy Club, Fairfield Athletic Association, Fairfield Retirees Club, and Moose Lodge. He was a life member of American Legion Post 11, Eagles, 40&8, and Golden Eagle.
Surviving are a brother, William Ashby of Lafayette; and a sister, Louella Mickler of Mulberry.
