Irene E. (Morin) Alartosky, age 97 of Methuen, a former longtime resident of Haverhill, passed away on Saturday August 18, 2012 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, surrounded by her family.



Irene was born on February 17, 1915 in Haverhill the daughter of Alphonse and Blanche (Verdon) Morin. She was raised and educated in Haverhill.



While her children were young, Irene was a homemaker who enjoyed staying home and taking care of her children. Once her children were grown, Irene went to work in the shoe industry in Haverhill and worked for Ornsteen Shoe for 15 years.



Irene was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to her weekly trips with her son and daughter, playing Bingo and making handmade crafts for her friends and family. She was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph's Church in Haverhill.



Irene will be remembered by her friends at Nevins as a woman who was well liked with a great sense of humor.



Irene's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the outstanding care that Irene received during her years as a resident there.



Irene was predeceased by her husband Joseph G. Alartosky in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine M. Eyssi of Lawrence and her son, Robert R. Alartosky of Methuen, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one nephew and several cousins.



Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday August 21, 2012 from 4 - 7:00 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home 47 Broadway in Haverhill. Irene's funeral will begin on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church in Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Haverhill.
