Riley Milam was the son of Bartlett and Elizabeth (Gwinn) Milam. He married Rachael Sims about 1807 in Laurens District, South Carolina. Rachael preceded Riley in death and they were buried together in the Milam Family Cemetery on the old Riley Milam family plantation.

In 1813 Riley Milam purchased 150 acres on Long Lick Creek (today Long Lick Branch), a branch of Raburn (today Rabon) Creek. His land bordered John Sims who was the father of Rachael Sims, wife of Riley Milam. It is highly probable that Rachael and Riley inherited much of this bordering land and he continued to live there throughout his life.

The estate included the half acre Milam Family Cemetery as designated in his will of 1853.

Gravesite Details

Any marker that may have existed has been lost to time. It is suspected to have been removed along with the stone wall in the very early 1990s.
