Betty Jo Simms, 88, Kokomo, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Brooke Knoll Village, Avon, Indiana. She was born April 30, 1926, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Thomas J. Adkins, Sr. and Mildred Hazel (Ferguson) Adkins. On Aug. 12, 1949, she married Robert L. Simms, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1998. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Herman Dillon; her second husband, Robert L. Simms; and her brothers, Thomas J. Adkins, Jr., Norvell P. Adkins, Robert J. Adkins and George W. Adkins. She graduated from Huntington East High School and attended Marshall College. She retired from First National Bank and Trust. She enjoyed traveling and bowling. She attended Pathway of Hope Church of the Nazarene. Betty is survived by her children, Richard L. Dillon (Mary), Buckhannon, West Virginia, Rita R. Daniels (Kurt), Del Rio, Texas, Bobbie Jo Craft, Indianapolis, and Mary Anne Benedict (Troy), Kokomo; her sister, Emma J. Kearns, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo.
