SOUTH BEND - Evelyn Theresa Murphy , 97, of South Bend and formerly of Mishawaka, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Healthwin Specialized Care Facility following an illness. Mrs. Murphy was born June 7, 1914 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Anna (Mack) and Frank Buchholz and had lived in the South Bend area since 1941, coming from Defiance.

On October 1, 1933 in Defiance as Evelyn T. Buchholz she married Donald L. Murphy who preceded her in death July 31, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith A. Willis; a grandson; a sister, Irene Fike ; and brothers, Robert and twins John and Louis Buchholz.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen I. Anderson of South Bend; sons, Donald F. "Bud" Murphy of Mishawaka and Patrick D. "Murf" Murphy of Granger; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Murphy was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend and a member of the altar and rosary society. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother and tremendously enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be truly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4th in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. John's Way with Rev. Charles A. Herman officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call today, February 3rd, from 4 until 7 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.
