He was born June 30, 1899 in Park City, the son of Edward Thiriot and Damarius Ann Avery Timms Thiriot. The Thiriot family moved from Park City to Salt Lake City when Ralph was a young boy.
He started to work for Strevell-Paterson Hardware Company at the early age of fourteen (which required his mother purchasing his first pair of long pants). He continued working as a salesman for the hardware company for fifty years, when he retired to care for his ailing wife.
Ralph won many contests and prestigious awards in his tenure as a salesman for Strevell-Paterson.
Ralph was a member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the Bonneville ward.
He married Rhea B. Swan on July 30, 1924, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. His wife passed away on April 8, 1974 after a long illness.
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, father, four sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Thiriot, Jr. (Karen), Salt Lake City; and Donald G. Thiriot (Helen), Coalville; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 1997 in the Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary Chapel, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call preceding the services at the mortuary from 12:45-1:45 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street, Salt Lake City.
