"Barbara Jean Maddox, 87, formerly of Placerville, Calif., died Saturday, March 21, 2015, in Upland, Calif. Born Sept. 17, 1927, in San Diego, Calif., to Donald and Francis Jones, she was a retired Respiratory Therapist and Placerville area resident. An avid weaver, she was also a volunteer with the STAR Program of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s department and a charter member of The Placerville Police department SHIELD. She was also well known for teaching Bible classes through Precept Ministries.

Barbara married her childhood sweetheart, Rowland A. Maddox, on Nov. 9, 1945, after he returned from his tour of duty in World War II, and he survives her. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Jones; her son, Bradley Maddox; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Joel, Heather and Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren, Adam, Mallory, Natalie, Kate, Allison, Micah, Abigail and Caleb.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, at Chapel of the Pines in Placerville. The funeral will take place at 12 p.m., Monday, at the Maddox family graveside at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Road in Placerville, with pastor Nick Triveri officiating. Memorials are suggested to Pacific Islands University of Guam, c/o Dave Owen, P.O. Box 22619, Barrigada, Guam, 96921."
