Russell J. Acey, 69, of Somerset, passed on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Born Dec. 27, 1945, in Scottdale, he is a son of the late James G. Acey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol, in 2010. Russell is survived by his son, Christopher J. Acey and wife, Mandie (Saylor), of Somerset; granddaughters, Samantha and Sophia Acey; brother, James G. Acey Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Somerset; special friend, Sandy Shinew, of Lancaster, Ohio; and numerous extended family members. Russell was a veteran of the Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he served as a medic. His working career included U.S. Steel, James G. Acey and Co., K Mart, Hemminger Homes and Somerset Hospital. He was a member (and past president) of the Somerset Lions Club and the Somerset American Legion. He was a member of St. Peter's Church in Somerset. Russell enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Somerset, with a vigil service to be held at 2 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Church with Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli as celebrant.
