Leonard W. Benner, a veteran of World War II and a member of Smith-Reynolds Post 14 of the American Legion, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his home in Vancouver. He was 88.
Mr. Benner was born April 10, 1915, in Spangle, and lived in Vancouver for 57 years. He was retired from the Clark County Road Department, where he worked as a truck driver for 30 years.
After his retirement he enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Elvira, at home; three daughters, Cathy O'Neil of Vancouver, Louise Babcock of Newman Lake and Chris Corekin of Sumner; one son, Leonard R. of Vancouver; two sisters, Gert Craig and Jeanette Peterson, both of Battle Ground; and two grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no service and his body will be cremated. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
